Mission:
The mission of The Brick Store Museum is to preserve the rich heritage of the Kennebunks for year-round residents, seasonal visitors and future generations through the collection, preservation, interpretation and exhibition of its material culture.

Collections:
There are more than 70,000 items in the Museum's collections, dating from the region's earliest settlements to the present day. Collections highlights include:

  • Artifacts and papers pertaining to the maritime heritage of the Kennebunks
  • Items from the estates of renowned authors, Kenneth Roberts and Booth Tarkington
  • Paintings by Thomas Badger, John Brewster, Jr., Abbott Fuller Graves, Louis D. Norton, and Hannah Skeele.

The Archives includes Extensive primary source materials ranging from diaries and family papers to commercial records, maps and architectural drawings attract researchers of all ages. Particularly significant are more than 3,000 historical photographs and vintage postcards, plus indexes for Kennebunk-built ships, local history subjects and genealogical collections. Area newspapers dating back to 1877 exist as bound originals and/or on microfilm.

A section of the archives is devoted to Maine authors, with sizable collections pertaining to Sarah Orne Jewett, Kenneth Roberts, and Booth Tarkington.

The Brick Store Museum also has a non-circulating research library.
